The COVID-19 pandemic and the life changes it has demanded of us, including shelter in place, have been a struggle for many of us in the Bay Area.
Many adults have lost jobs or are working restricted hours. Some families are facing a financial crisis. With the school year fast approaching, and in uncertain financial times, how will families get the tools they need for children to access education? The primary need being computers that will allow access to teachers and online classes, and to learn the skills that technology demands of modern society.
• How do we prepare our children and support their needs?
• How to do we provide a level playing field for students who don’t have computers, and provide access to distance learning that will be part of the education model in the coming school year?
• How do we get technology to families and children affected by lost or reduced income and the pandemic?
Tech Donations for Education's mission is to organize, communicate and donate to our school systems whose students need technology to participate in distance learning. Our aim is to help address this challenge by calling out to Bay Area companies that create or thrive on technology. They may have unused computers and/or technology that could be vital tools for our students and youth. Not only can this provide much needed tools for students, but it can reduce e-waste. It can help close the gap on income inequality by giving back. And it can help propel our young people toward opportunity and a brighter future.
